On-course strategies
STRATEGIES THAT SURVIVE A TOURNAMENT.
These are coaching habits, not gadgets or guarantees. They work because they are simple enough to hold on to when the round gets uncomfortable.
Decide Before You Swing
Choose the club, shot shape and target before you step in. A clear decision gives the routine a useful starting point under pressure.
One Routine, Every Shot
The same sequence on the range, on the first tee and on the last green. Consistency of process comes before consistency of ball flight.
Recover Between Shots
A deliberate reset after a bad shot — reaction, breath, next target — keeps one mistake from becoming three.
Play to a Scoring Plan
Decide where the course invites an aggressive choice and where a conservative target better supports the round.
Review Decisions, Not Just Scores
After the round, separate good decisions with bad outcomes from bad decisions. Only one of those needs fixing.
